Emergency Old Malden roadworks to end on Friday afternoon
4:25pm Thursday 2nd September 2010

Emergency roadworks in Old Malden are due to end on Friday afternoon, after causing rush hour woe for road users this week, Kingston Council has said.
The works started on Tuesday to fix a gas leak, for which part of the road needed to be dug up and temporary traffic lights had to be installed, causing heavy tailbacks in Malden Road, from the A3 exit all the way to Central Road in Worcester Park.
A spokesman for Kingston Council said the work has now been completed but delays would continue until tomorrow because the new concrete would need time to set.
He said: “Although the work has now been completed, the traffic lights cannot be removed until the concrete has set - which will be achieved by Friday afternoon at the latest.”
